The goal

For this school project, the goal was to design an app targeting Generation Y, where they can easily search for and book outings. This project was divided into two phases: the research phase and the design phase. The research phase was conducted in a group, where we determined the target audience, identified their needs, established acceptance criteria, and defined a style.

In the second phase, the design phase, you work individually and use the insights gathered during the research phase to create the app. It's important that your design aligns with the findings from your research.

The process

We started out working together as a group. We created cultural probes and conducted interviews to gain a comprehensive understanding. Additionally, we carried out desk research to further broaden our perspective. We analyzed these findings, which led us to define acceptance criteria. As a group, we also created a stylescape to document key visual elements.

In the second phase, I worked independently. I began by translating the acceptance criteria into specific app pages. Once the required pages were clearly outlined, I started sketching them out as wireframes. These wireframes were then turned into low-fidelity prototypes, which later evolved into high-fidelity prototypes.

The end result

In the first phase, we were able to produce excellent results from our research. By carefully establishing these findings, clear guidelines were readily available.

During the design phase, these guidelines proved extremely useful. With everything already well-defined, the task was essentially translating our research into an app. This allowed me to work effectively and create a beautiful app where users can search for and book outings.
